Teachers serving under the internship program will have something to smile at in the ongoing TSC recruitment exercise after the body mandated to employ teachers gave them ten(10) marks. This will undoubtedly give them an upper hand in recruitment.

According to the latest TSC Recruitment Score sheet, these teachers will be given an advantage of ten(10) marks upon producing evidence of TSC internship service.

 

This will definitely haunt those teachers who deliberately refused to turn up for the recruitment internship that took place last year.

It is increasingly clear that the teachers’ employer has taken the move to award them ten clean marks in a bid to ensure that teachers who are employed by the commission and those yet to be employed take any guidelines given to them seriously.

The untold truth is that teachers serving in the internship program sacrifice a lot owing to the fact that they are paid very low salaries yet they are fully qualified teachers.

This is not the first time TSC is awarding ten marks to its prospective employees. In 2016, during the strike that grounded the education sector to a halt, TSC hired 70,000-relief teachers for a period of three months.

These relief teachers were later awarded 10 marks during subsequent recruitments for their selfless service in plugging shortage, that had been occasioned by teachers on strike.

Termination of the internship program; How to Terminate a TSC internship Contract

Teachers who are currently in an internship program can terminate their contracts by doing the following;

  1. Submit a written letter of resignation/ termination of the contract to the Commission through the Supervisor by giving thirty (30) days Written Notice.
  2. Giving a two (2) weeks’ Written Notice before taking up employment offered to him/her before the expiry of the agreed internship period.
