INCREASED KNEC PAYMENT RATES PER SCRIPT FOR ALL KCSE EXAMINERS 2021
Good news for the examiners who will accept Knec invitation to mark KCSE 2020 exams in April 2021 following the Council’s decision to revise payment rates upwards
The Kenya National Examinations Council, KNEC in 2019 agreed to increase KCSE payment rates per script for contracted KCSE Examiners after teachers contracted to mark the 2019 KCSE national exams downed their tools at various marking centres.
The council finally bowed to pressure from both teachers and the teachers’ union, KUPPET and revised KNEC payment rates per script upwards by a few shillings.
Here is a quick break-down of the latest new KNEC PAYMENT RATES PER SCRIPT 2021:
KNEC has released new payment rates for all the subjects, including Business Paper-II.

Although the angry examiners were demanding to have the payment rate increased from Kshs 46 to 68 per script, KNEC agreed to pay them Kshs 56 per script.
BIOLOGY PAPER III NEW KNEC PAYMENT RATES PER SCRIPT
Examiners marking this year’s Biology Paper III will pocket Kshs 50 per script.

KUPPET’S PROPOSED KNEC PAYMENT RATES PER SCRIPT
The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers, KUPPET in 2019 gave KNEC a 7-days-ultimatum to increase the payment rates of all KNEC examiners to a flat rate of Kshs 100 per scrip.
If Knec had complied, all examiners would have received the same amount irrespective of the subjects being marked.
KUPPET also noted that KNEC examiners were receiving meagre earnings despite the indispensable role they play in the process of assessment.
