Anger and frustration outbursts on social media platforms!

Examiners have expressed their frustrations following the Exam body KNEC paying them a paltry 10, 000 Ksh.

KNEC 2021 Examiners’ pay unfairly delayed for far too long to comprehend!

It should be noted that KNEC has been owing the examiners marking dues from April 2021, when the Marking exercise was concluded, only for the exam body to pay 10,000 only, an amount that was meant to be paid as advance.

KNEC 2021 Examiners’ Withheld advance

Examiners have always left the Marking centers with an advance of 20,000, an agreement that had been reached at between the exam body(KNEC) and the examiners for the last three years.

However the situation this time round was different because KNEC not only failed to remit this advance cash in full but also didn’t  communicate the anomaly early enough.

KNEC 2021 Examiners’ protests!

This situation rubbed teachers the wrong way and some marking centers like Moi Girls and State House Girls broke into protests opposing this high handedness even before the Marking exercise could be concluded!

Covid19 Pandemic

It should be observed that the Kenyan Tutors went to execute this noble national exercise at a time when the Covid19 pandemic was rife in the country!

It did not help matters that the Centers were crowded and needless to say that the Covid 19 protocols were never observed. Teachers who are made to believe they are in a noble profession not only slept in crowded student dormitories but were also put on mediocre diet (mashakura)

KNEC 2021 Torturous Marking exercise

The Marking exercise in itself is torture! The working hours are crazy, waking up at 3am and going to bed at 11pm. The masks were worn for all those hours leaving ugly marks on teacher’s faces! The carrying of the script boxes to and from the script rooms was another daunting task that literally saw teachers convert into mere porters!

Over taxation-30%

It is worth mentioning also that the amount made by the Teachers during this very tiresome exercise is also subjected to 30% tax by the KRA. How does a government subject teachers to this kind of unfair treatment?

Angry and hilarious reactions on social media platforms

It is on this background that teachers have been wondering why the Council has delayed their pay from April 2021!( To be precise 4 months since the exercise was concluded!) Then today( 25th July 2021 at 6.00pm) the council remits just 10,000ksh, without any explanation to the teachers as to when the rest of the amounts will be disbursed sparking angry reactions from the teachers as some of these captions from the various social media platforms reveal.
